Container ports

I like container ports. I like all the hustle and bustle, big boats. Almost something peaceful about it. Yup, I said it. The following pics are from the Port of Hamburg Gallery

If you click the thumbs, you get the original which are rather large in sice. Great as background!

African culture on a boat

Marius and I went to a boat in the Oslo harbor called MS Innvik. It's a place to see cultural events, theatre, small concerts etc. We went there yesterday to hear Zimbabwian music and Mozambique dance. It was a good time. Check small video clip.

How geeky am I? I recently won a 512 Mb memory stick. Since I already have two, I decided to use this one as a vault, an encrypted vault. So I went ahead and installed a great open-source application for Windows (and Linux) called TrueCrypt. This enables you to create an encrypted storage space from an entire volume or as a file on a disk. So when you've installed the software, and typed in the passphrase, it gives you on-the-fly encryption. Eject the disk, and it's all encrypted.

Pros: Everything is encrypted using the best, most secure encryption algorithms out there. Fast. Free.

Cons: Not working on Mac. Need to install TrueCrypt software on all the PCs you want to use it with.

But I use it, I install TrueCrypt on my work PC and home PC. I'll store stuff that I don't want others to see. If I loose it, the data's lost for everyone. Better than someone stealing and looking at my secret stash.

Music tidbit of the day:
Are you familiar with the Putumayo music series? It is awesome. I just got my hands on the "French Cafe" album. Here's a little taste:

Well now is Monday. I'm traveling to Trondheim in a few hours to be the tech guy at a conference about mental health. It's not too hard, just have to make sure that all the Powerpoints and DVDs and lighting is ok.

My nephew Liam was with us for the weekend. He's 10 and very consumer conscious. Don't want to drink Coca cola due to their business practices. We went to Tryvann Ski Center on Saturday, just outside Oslo. They have a terrain park with rails and jumps so I tried a rail for the first time. Not GS, or sideways, but still. It was a start.

On Sunday we went to a concert in Oslo Konserthus with lots of kids and youth on the stage, singing, playing the accordian and moving in unison. It was ok. Liam plays the flute and he was part of a "train" that choo-chood across the stage. Have video, will post later.
